Care Guide

Every Nivaroon piece is designed for special occasions and constructed with delicate materials that deserve thoughtful handling. The guidance below covers general maintenance for embellished formalwear. Always defer to the care instructions on your specific garment's label or product page, as construction and materials vary between styles.

Before You Put It On

Formal gowns and dresses in our collection often combine multiple components—sheer illusion mesh overlays, structured boning, beaded embroidery, lace panels, metallic hardware, and flowing chiffon or pleated skirts. Each element responds differently to tension and contact.

  • Zip or fasten the garment fully before dressing to reduce stress on delicate seams and embellished edges.
  • Slip the garment over your head or step into it gently rather than pulling across beaded or sequined surfaces, which can snag on jewelry, nails, or rough skin.
  • Check that any removable accessories (such as chain-detailed straps or detachable neck scarves) are securely attached before you move.

During the Event

Sitting, dancing, and leaning can press embellishments against hard surfaces. When possible, avoid resting beaded or sequined areas directly on chair backs, table edges, or rough upholstery. Keep perfume, hairspray, and deodorant application away from the fabric—apply them before you dress and allow them to dry fully.

After You Take It Off

Once you've removed the garment, give it a few minutes of open air before storing. This helps release body warmth and any residual moisture from the event.

  • Lay the piece flat on a clean, dry surface or hang it on a padded hanger that supports the shoulders without distorting structured bodices.
  • Inspect beadwork, sequins, appliques, and lace edges for any loose or displaced elements before putting the garment away.
  • Do not fold embellished sections tightly against themselves; repeated pressure can flatten dimensional florals or crack bead surfaces.

Spot Cleaning a Small Mark

If you notice a minor spill or surface mark, act quickly and conservatively:

  1. Blot—do not rub—with a clean, white, lint-free cloth to lift excess liquid.
  2. Check the garment's own care label for any specific cleaning instructions before attempting anything further.
  3. If no label instructions are available, do not apply water, solvents, stain removers, or heat to embellished areas without first confirming the method is safe for that specific construction.

For anything beyond a tiny fresh mark—set-in stains, discoloration, or moisture that has soaked through layers—stop and seek professional assessment.

Storing Between Occasions

Formalwear with dimensional embellishments is best stored flat or loosely hung in a breathable garment bag. Avoid plastic dry-cleaning bags for long-term storage, as trapped moisture can affect metallic threads and bead adhesives.

  • Keep garments away from direct sunlight, which can fade fabric dyes and degrade sheer mesh over time.
  • Do not stack heavy items on top of beaded or sequined sections.
  • Ensure the storage area is dry and free from sharp objects that could catch lace or fringe details.

When to Seek Professional Help

A qualified formalwear cleaner or seamstress experienced with embellished garments can assess issues that home care cannot safely resolve, including:

  • Loose, missing, or displaced beads, sequins, or applique elements
  • Stains that have set into layered or sheer fabrics
  • Damage to boning, structural seams, or concealed zippers
  • Overall cleaning of pieces where the care label specifies a method you are unsure how to perform

Do not attempt to reattach embellishments with household glue or thread unless you have experience with fine beadwork—improper repairs can damage surrounding fabric.
